Women's Tennis Returns to La Costa Resort and Spa

Women’s professional tennis returns to La Costa in August of 2010.  The Mercury Insurance Open will be held July 31 - August 8, 2010.  This tournament will feature top players such as Lindsay Davenport, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Nadia Petrova, Jelena Jankovic and many more.  Tickets for the Mercury Insurance Open are on sale now.  
 
La Costa’s tennis center has enjoyed a long history of hosting some of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. In the 1970s, the resort hosted the Grand Prix, which attracted such household tennis names as Jimmy Connors, Ilie Nastase and Bjorn Borg, and two Davis Cup competitions. Beginning in the 90’s, the resort hosted the nationally televised Women’s Professional Tennis Tour’s Acura Classic for 16 years and drew some of the most revered names in women’s tennis, among them Venus and Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Maria Sharapova.
